This rifle has the Type II receiver with redesigned bridge adapted for scope mounts, and the early Type II safety and bolt with narrow safety tab and handle cut-out. The metal retains 97-98% of the original blue finish, with some mild silvering and fading along some of the high and exposed edges, as well as on the bearing surfaces of the matching numbered bolt. This rifle was one of the 25,000 or so Model 70s manufactured between 1947-1948, incorporating a mix of pre and post-war features intended to make the Model 70 more amenable to telescopic sights. 257 Roberts, 24 inch barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
